SINK into Comics... They'll Keep You Sane!
As SINK: City of Killers, the 200+ page third volume of the award winning crime horror comics launches on Kickstarter, a few thoughts on the journey thus far!
It’s another launch day here at ComixTribe HQ, our first big graphic novel Kickstarter release of 2025… and this one is a doozy!
ComixTribe’s longest running, top-selling and most critically acclaimed series SINK is back on Kickstarter with the highly-anticipated third volume!
Earlier today, Sink’s writer John Lees shared this with his audience about the new collection:
It's always nerve-wracking launching a new campaign, but this one is especially meaningful to me. It marks the culmination of years of work, the end result of a bunch of scripts I wrote at the height of lockdown where keeping on trucking with Sink felt like one of my few remaining tethers to sanity. This represents emerging out the other side after some dark periods where it felt like everything was up against us and we'd never get more Sink out into the world.
John’s remarks made me reflect on how often it is STORY that gets us through the tough times… be it creating it or consuming it.
It’s a special gift that John and many other talented creators have where they are able to absorb all the strife that life throws their way and channel it into captivating tales that make readers lives better.
Writer Rich Douek (Drive Like Hell, Road of Bones), who graciously accepted our invite to write the foreword to this new volume, wrote this:
Sink is the story of a terrible place, and the people who inhabit it - some by choice, to be sure, but most of the inhabitants of Sinkhill are just trapped by circumstance in a place that seems to be doing its best to kill them, whether through roaming gangs of killer Clowns, psychotic bus drivers, or marauding fratboys with condom hats.
But it’s also the story of those people fighting back against the darkness, carving out what little bit of normalcy they can in all this chaos. You’ve got the enigmatic Mr. Dig, meeting violence head on with his trusty shovel. A kinky couple who really hate Tories. An entire building coming together when it’s turned into a deathtrap.
And that’s the experience of reading Sink - lots and lots of bad things happen - but the more horror you see, the more you’re drawn in, to see how the people of Sinkhill will endure and overcome it.
So, whatever you might be going through today, one thing I know is that a great comic can help!
And because we’re always looking for new ways to reward and delight our fans, we’re especially thrilled to be offering, for the first time ever, a new MR. DIG plush toy during this campaign.
Now, I’ve been working with the fine folks at Skelton Crew studios for years on plush toys with the C is for Cthulhu brand. It was always a goal to get one made for one of our ComixTribe characters as well, and who better than SINK’s most popular and iconic vigilante, Mr. Dig?
John has long said one of his creative goals was to see one of his characters come to life as a plush, and we’re incredibly grateful for the fans who are going to help make it happen!
