Proofs in Hand... Does it Get Any Better?
Acknowledging the feeling when that finished book finally arrives!
Last month, we wrapped the latest SINK Campaign, a volume 3 collection that is the largest tome of John Lees & Alex Cormack’s crime horror opus yet.
🦊🚌🤡MISSED IT? There’s a Backerkit PRE-ORDER STORE open for a limited time.
I was able to send the book off to the printer during the launch, and have already received proofs back of the hardcover and softcover version. I swear, it doesn’t matter how many times you’ve reviewed the files or flipped through the same story content in another format… there’s nothing like getting that new trade in hand!
SINK is the first ComixTribe series to make it to a third volume. We’re often asked whether there will be SINK omnibus collecting the whole series, and we certainly make that one day… but it’s still a ways off. (In fact, there’s a line in the latest volume where John hints that the grand SINK narrative is now roughly at it’s half-way point… and really just heating up.)
We decided to make ALL THREE volumes of SINK available in both Hardcover and Softcover format during this launch, and were thrilled to see that dozens of new readers were going all in on the catch up for this series.
Publishing is a tricky venture… on the one hand, you’re only as good as your latest book and audiences are constantly on the lookout for the next big thing.
And yet, every business needs stability… proven products that sell year in and year out that afford the business to take chances on something new. Looking ahead to 2025, we’re going to try to strike that balance, by continuing SINK, which has been a proven hit.

But we’re also excited about stretching our wings a bit, and the new murder-mystery fantasy series Grawlgore & Shanks by John Lees and artist Joe Mulvey, will give us the chance to do just that.
Yesterday, I started prepping and packing for my first convention of 2025. (ComixTribe will be tabling at Wicked Comic Con in Boston on April 19.) I can remember a time when I had a single comic book to sell at my table… Now it’s a challenge to figure out which comics, trades and hardcovers to bring and which to leave home for lack of table-space!
Whatever doesn’t sell at that show will be packed back up and hauled to Cod Con two weeks later, where I’ll be tabling and doing a industry panel on publishing in 2025.
It never gets old, bringing books to new and longtime fans. Thanks for being along for the ride.
